Montavilla Jazz Presents: THELONIOUS MONK: STRAIGHT NO CHASER (1988)

Montavilla Jazz Festival 2026 is kicking off with a bang, and they're here presenting a very special prelude to the festivities -- a one-night only showing of THELONIOUS MONK: STRAIGHT NO CHASER (1988)! 

This incredible documentary is the closest a film camera ever got to jazz legend Thelonious Monk, giving a glimpse behind of the scenes of his brilliant and complex life. Captured with the same freeform spirit that definined his artistry, it is a truly unique glimpse into the quixotic world of one of the twentieth century's most revolutionary artists.

The film will begin at 7pm, with an introduction by executive director of the Montavilla Jazz festival - Neil Mattson.

In addition, Jazz Festival pass holders will recieve a free small popcorn with purchase (simply show your wristband or proof of payment at the register in order to redeem).
