A one night only showing of Academy staple CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON on our biggest screen!
Tables in our lobby filled with newly unearthed photos and memorabilia from Academy’s history dating back to the original opening in 1948, courtesy of Academy employee Michael Boles and owner Heyward Stewart!
A raffle featuring movie posters, free tickets, t-shirts, and more!
A thoughtfully curated selection of VHS tapes from Academy programmer Door Man!
Free delicious cake!
And hopefully more surprises to come!
Itinerary is as follows (subject to change):
6:30 pm - Event begins. Tables will be set up in the lobby featuring Academy Theater photographs, memorabilia, and a curated selection of VHS tapes for perusal. The lobby and Theater 3 will be open to hang out and chat in - feel free to grab a drink or a snack and kick back with other passionate folks! We will have small slices of cake available in the lobby as well (supply may be limited, so get it while you can!) and raffle tickets for those who have purchased tickets to see the film.
7:30 - 8:00 pm - Pre-film speeches in Theater 3 from Academy Theater owner Heyward and other folks who have helped to make the theater what it is today!
8:00 pm - Creature from the Black Lagoon starts.
9:20 (ish) - Creature from the Black Lagoon ends.
9:20 - 9:50 pm - A post-film raffle with various items up for grabs (movie posters, Academy tees, free movie passes, coupons for concessions, and more!)
10:00 pm - Closing remarks and thank yous.
Please note: Tickets are only required for viewing the film and participating in the post-film raffle.
